In a shift of focus to ensure Virginia Football can continue their recent momentum, the Athletics Master Plan will begin Phase II by building the Football Operations Center.
The foundation has been established for Virginia Football to compete for championships. To place the football program in a position of sustained excellence, we need to do extra; we need additional financial commitments from our supporters.
The current home of the program, the McCue Center, opened in 1991 and is no longer suitable to house the needs of a Power 5 conference football program. Since the McCue Center opened, every current ACC football program has renovated or opened a new support facility.
Virginia's Football Operations Center will provide our football student-athletes and coaches every opportunity to field a championship program. More importantly, this new facility will allow our coaches and staff to safely train and develop our student-athletes through the addition of two grass practice fields dedicated to football, which was completed during Phase I, and new facilities that will house academic affairs, sports medicine, sports nutrition, and strength and conditioning.
"The Football Operations Center is critical to our success moving forward. First, it symbolizes to the student-athletes the University's investment in their well-being, development, and nutrition. It also provides the space to accommodate all of the resources that the student-athlete needs to fully develop for competition."
